Amelia Earhart (1898-1937) was a American aviator, born in Kansas.

Short Biography:

In 1932 she was the first woman to fly the Atlantic alone, and in 1937 disappeared without trace while making a Pacific flight.

Clues found on Nikumuroro island in Kiribati in 1989 suggest that she and her male navigator might have survived a crash only to die of thirst.
