Ambrose Gwinnett Bierce (1842-1914) was an American author.
Short Biography:
He established his reputation as a master of supernatural and psychological horror with his "Tales of Soldiers and Civilians" in 1891 and "Can Such Things Be?" in 1893.
He also wrote "The Devil's Dictionary" in 1906, a collection of ironic definitions. He disappeared on a secret mission to Mexico.
