Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma (1900-1979) was a British admiral.

Short Biography:

In World War II he became chief of combined operations in 1942 and commander in chief in South-Est Asia in 1943. As last viceroy of India in 1947 he oversaw the transition to independence, becoming the first governor general of India until 1948.
