Jean Bodin (1530-1596) was a French political philosopher, whose six-volume "De la Ripublique" in 1576 is considered the first work on political economy.

Short Biography:

An attorney in Paris, in 1574 he published a tract explaining that prevalent high prices were due to the influx of precious metals from the New World.

His theory of an ideal government emphasized obedience to a sovereign ruler.
