Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr. was born on March 15, 1867 in Chicago (controversial over date, 21). His German immigrant father, Florenz Ziegfeld, Sr., ran the successful College of Music. He was an American Broadway impresario. He is best known for his series of theatrical revues, the Ziegfeld Follies (1907-1931). He was known as the "glorifier of the American girl".
