Shirley Williams (born in 1930) was Labour minister for prices and consumer protection 1974-1976, and education and science 1976-1979.

She became a founder member of the SDP in 1981 and its president in 1982. In 1983 she lost her parliamentary seat. She is the daughter of socialist writer Vera Brittain.
