Biography and Career

Herb Alpert was born in Los Angeles, California, as Herbert Alpert. At the age of eight he began trumpet lessons and played at dances as a teenager. In 1952, he graduated from Fairfax High School. Later he joined the U.S. Army and frequently performed at military ceremonies.
