Harriet Beecher Stowo (1811-1896) was an American suffragist, abolitionist, and author of of the anti-slavery novel Uncle Tom's Cabin, first published as a serial 1851-1852.

Short Biography:

She was a daughter of Lyman OBeecher, and in 1836 married C. E. Stowe, a professor of theology. Her book was radical in its time and did much to spread anti-slavery sentiment, but has later been criticised for sentimentality and racism.
