Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847) was a German composer, also a pianist and conductor.

Short Biography:

Among his many works are A Midsummer Night's Dream (1827); the Fingal's Cave overture (1832); and five symphonies, which include the Reformation (1830), the Italian (1833), and the Scottish (1842).

He also composed the violin concerto in 1844; Songs Without Words (1832-1845) for the piano; operas; and the oratorios Saint Paul (1836) and Elijah in 1846.
