Assumed name of Erich Oswald Stroheim (1885-1957) was an Austrian actor and director, who worked in Hollywood from 1914.

Short Biography:

Successful as an actor in villainous roles, his career as a director was wrecked by his extravagance and he returned to acting in international films such as Grand Illusion/La Grande Illusion in 1937 and Sunset Boulevard in 1950. His films as director include Greed in 1923 and Queen Kelly in 1928 (unfinished).
