Eminem was granted his own record label by Interscope, looking on to the success of Eminem in selling of his albums. He and his manger Paul Rosenberg created Shady Records in late 1999. He signed his own Detroit collective D12 and rapper Obie Trice to the label.
Later he also signed 50 Cent through a joint venture between Shady and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath label. And in 2003, he with Dr. Dre signed Atlanta rapper Stat Quo to the Shady/Aftermath roster. Eminem signed DJ Green Lantern to Shady Reco
