Agatha Christie (1890-1976) was a English detective novelist who created the characters Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple.
Her prolific output included the novels The Murder of Roger Ackroyd in 1926 and Ten Litde Indians in 1939, and the play The Mousetrap in 1952.
Born in Torquay as Agatha Miller, she married Colonel Archibald Christie in 1914 and served during World War I as a nurse.
