At 19 years old Maribel Guardia participated at the show Miss Costa Rica and she won the title of Miss Costa Rica. After that Maribel was sent to represent her country at Miss World and Miss Universe.

The beautiful lady went at Acapulco because there were the shows but she wasn't the final winner. She wasn't disappointed because there she gained a lot of experience and met a lot of people.
