Library Thing lets users create their own personalized libraries; online libraries. This is a new concept where users can create their own bibliography. This site is specially designed for bibliophiles. Book loving people can catalog their books and also connect socially with authors and other users through their bibliography. Library Thing helps people to create a list of the user's books.
Users are the managers of their own libraries and can add, remove or sort the books in their catalogue as per their wish. Library Thing provides a huge set of books but does not provide any online reading or don't lend or allows buying the book. Joining Library Thing contains filling the username, password and also email address, to inform us the passwords in case if we forget it.
Library Thing facilitates users to create a catalogue of their books the books they are reading, the books they have read, their favorite books, books lent by them, books owned by them and also helps cataloging the books they are going to read. The catalogues of the users can also be accessed through mobile phones.
Since all user catalogs online, everyone can know each other's catalogues. Users can tag the books, write a review on the book, can describe the characters and overall gist of the book and can participate in forums as well. Users remain connected with each other by sharing, tagging and commenting their par set of books.
Library Thing helps users to know about other users thinking about the books in common of both users, by displaying the reviews, tags and comments of the users on particular books. This way every user comes to know the reviews of many users. Communication also remains intact by joining the groups that includes user's favorite topics and books. Library Thing has a good amount of collection of books from amazon.com and from over 690 libraries around the globe which also includes Library of Congress, the biggest library of the world.
Cataloging books on Library Thing is easy. The books are searched by typing few title words in the search tab and then clicking on the book after filtering the books. Books can also be added to our catalogue manually if it does not exist in the Library Thing.
Author in Library Thing comes to know the reviews of the users on their books and also comes to know the number of people reading their books and how famous are their books among users. Authors have rights to modify the content of their books. |
