Who Wants to be a Millionaire is Back
Who Wants to be a Millionaire is Back

Thursday, April 23 2009

by Joe Halls

The renowned television quiz show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, is set to invade prime time TV viewing in August, ABC said. Regis Philbin, the show's original host, will also be back to ask the contestants "Is that your final answer?"

The quiz show will air from August 9 to 23, Sundays through Thursdays. Who Wants to be a Millionaire was a big hit in 1999 wherein it attracted more than 30 million viewers per episode.

The show was canceled in 2002 because of its weakening appeal as seen on its ratings that was caused by ABC's changed in programming, showing it four times a week.

With the commercial and critical success of Slumdog Millionaire, which featured the Indian version of the show, interest in the program has revitalized.
