What Is New about Dancing With the Stars

Wednesday, April 7 2010

We are not sure for the moment how the fans of the Dancing With the Stars' 10th season are voting in order to maintain the artists into competition. What we really know is that the ten celebrities are given one more chance to win the disco ball trophy. So, what they must do is to try and impress the judges and the masse. Kate Gosselin proves to be among the favorites, a real artist of the ballroom dance.

Here there are the couples into contest and their positions so far.

Shannen Doherty and Mark Ballas got to a 20 points score. It seemed that Doherty's great legs from the physical standpoint coul not bring the couple on the first position. The judges decided to praise her energy level a bit early in the competition. We got used with Doherty and her sock-showing partner to tear up in the audience again.

Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska got to a 19 points score this week. If he is hot, he must be great! Everyone is expecting this from the All My Children star. But it seems Aiden took a little bit of his frustration out on his partner during rehearsals' time. He threatened Edyata to leave. He finally brought her to tears. The critics were soon to come. "I can see a glimmer of hope for Aiden," Bruno Tonioli said. Carrie Ann Inaba said: "Nice job. Great connection; solid, solid dance."

Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya got to a 24 points score so far. The Olympic gold medalist was in best shape ever, making the judges saying the couple is one of this season's elite. Fans are to be proud for such a joy to watch! Despite their indulgency, one of the judges Len Goodman, commented on the Evan's footwork: "There's something strange going on down below," commented Len Goodman. Could there be his pink socks?

Niecy Nash and Louis van Amstel got to a 21 points score this week. Everybody around is asking if Niecy has started to have the time of her life. "You are a revelation," Len Goodman said applauding her. The artist seems to dance without any trace of awkwardness. She feels like she has been dancing for a life time on Dancing With the Stars. Bruno, another judge, described her "light and froth like a strawberry milkshake." That is why Niecy Nash said full of confidence: "I can do big!" as Carrie Ann encouraged her to put more effort into it.

Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower got to a 24 points score so far. We could say that a good Bachelor knows how to step for the dance floor. Moreover, he can also jive! Jake managed to handle Chelsie's choreography, like real champs. Bruno congratulated him: "Your energy and determination are great." He also gave him real good advice: "When you combine the two, you'll be amazing." Len Goodman said also: "Someone's going home tomorrow night and I truly hope it's not you, because I think you've got a lot more to give and great potential."

Buzz Aldrin and Ashly Costa got to a 12 points score. Here we go again with Buzz! What else can we say? He has become lately an excluded presence. He is about to make joke of himself and his partner. On the other hand, the traditional fox-trot seemed to suit him more than the cha-cha. This time, Len Goodman was more approvingly with Buzz: "I think you inspire, anyone can dance." Bruno was a little bit critical, saying that Buzz' dancing was like pioneering astronaut "avoiding craters". Bruno completed his sentence as he referred to Buzz' giant steps.

Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough scored 28 points. What can we say? Congratulations to this wonderful couple that has become a real sight for sore eyes! They are just great! Carrie Ann applauded: "Perfection!" it seems this is the best jive ever in these two weeks. Bruno also praised the couple, calling it "phenomenal".

Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are up to 23 points. Bruno told Erin that she was "natural". The ESPN reporters watched her grace and loveliness while doing fox-trot. Erin's dance was just gorgeous! Carrie Ann advised her to "watch the death grip," while Len was closely watching Maks whom Erin was yelling at during rehearsals: "Turn up, keep up, shut up trust in your pro!"

Pamela Anderson and Damien Whitewood grabbed 22 points this week. People were amazed to see Pamela having a real orgasm on fox-trot steps. The actress managed to glitter in the ballroom, as if she were a red blooded Latin woman. Pam's "cheeky charm" was delightful for the audience: "A well-executed, delicious tribute to the original blond bombshell," Bruno exclaimed, referring to Pam playing the part of Marilyn Monroe. Len Goodman praised Pam's elegant style on the dance floor.

Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke could only gather 16 points. The football star was definitely better at the cha-cha that at fox-trotting. He did not feel comfortable at all on the dance floor this time. The judges say that he is not as full of grace as he should be, even though he managed to keep up with Cheryl. On the other hand, they think Chad has a good rhythm. But what did Len say at the end of the show? "It was like the snow, you're just glad when it's all over." Bruno and Carrie Ann wanted to see more, that is why they offered "cumbersome and ungainly."

Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani got only 15 points. Can we call it a surprise? Maybe we should not; as we saw Kate criticizing Tony's teaching style: "You're not taking into consideration how I learn." Tony wanted to quit, even walked out. As Kate apologized, he came back. On the judges' point of view, Kate was like a Stepford wife, as she was bouncing, and not dancing. Despite all, she was real cute on the dance floor. "What's the worst that could happen, you go wrong, you fall over? So what?" Len told her. "Go out fighting."

This is the rundown of this week's leader board, including last week's scores for each couple:

Nicole & Derek: 53
Evan & Anna: 47
Erin & Maks: 44
Pam & Damien: 43
Jake & Chelsie: 40
Niecy & Louis: 39
Shannen & Mark: 38
Aiden & Edyta: 34
Chad & Cheryl: 34
Kate & Tony: 31
