The producer of 30 Rock and SNL will receive an honorary Emmy

The producer of series 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live will receive an honorary award at the International Emmy Awards gala this year.

SNL creator and executive producer of Leadership Award will the prize receive in edition No. 38 which will take place in New York on November 22.

SNL has had many celebrities as hosts, including Tom Hanks, Betty White and Steve Martin in the 35 years of broadcasting. International Academy President and CEO Bruce Paisner, said: "With this sketch comedy, Lorne Michaels opened the door to another kind of comedy on television and then went through it all.

It changed our entertainment, politics affect us and shape the way we perceive the world. "

Outside of television work, Michaels has also produced films, including Baby Mama, Mean Girls and Wayne's World. Among previous winners the prize includes media mogul Ted Turner and John pub from BBC.
