Willie Williams, the band's show director, had gifted drawings of a large four-legged object to U2 towards the end of 2006 when the band was wrapping up the last tour. The drawings were resemblance of what came to be known as The Claw, a vision of Willie Williams.
The design of Williams nearly resembles a four-legged spacecraft. This will enable the band to perform "in the palm of the audience's hand" as Williams describes it. It will be a 164 feet high structure, much bigger than the statium stage of "A Bigger Band" tour of Rolling Stones. The four legs of the structure are equipped with complete sound systems and a total of 72 different subwoofers.
The behemoth size of U2's new stadium set will take 120 trucks to transport it from one venue to the other where it will assembled in pieces.
