Pop star Rihanna, who was the alleged victim in an altercation with boyfriend Chris Brown months ago, pleads for the recovery of her borrowed jewelry from the cops. The jewelry, approximately worth $1 million, was lent to the Umbrella singer the night before the 2009 Grammy awards.
The items were taken by the LAPD as part of the evidence in their investigation. "Since there appears to be no evidentiary value to the continued holding of this jewelry ... we respectfully (ask) the court to order the return of this property to (Rihanna) without further delay," Rihanna’s lawyer Donald Etra stated.
"If the DA doesn't need the items, and the LAPD doesn't need the items, there's no reason why they shouldn't be returned," Etra added.
DA spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said, "At this stage, we're not even sure what evidence is going to be entered into the case. For now, we don't have any further comment on this matter."
