Redmond O'Neal Permitted to See Mom

Tuesday, April 28 2009

by Joe Halls

Redmond, the son of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett, was permitted to go out of the jail and visit her sick mom for three hours last weekend. Redmond was arrested on April 5 for bringing narcotics and a controlled substance to a jail facility.

At his lawyer's request, the 24-year-old saw his mom in a visit supervised by the sheriff's office. "A sergeant and a deputy drove him to his mother's home (Saturday) and he's now back in custody," said Steve Whitmore, L.A. County Sheriff's spokesman.

Whitmore added that a temporary release for inmates is granted when a certain family member is very ill, had died, and the like. A source commented on Fawcett's condition saying, "Of course she's ill, but nothing should be read into the timing of Redmond's visit. Redmond's attorney had requested that he be allowed to visit his mom a while ago. It was not a crisis or emergency. Farrah is status quo. He had a lovely visit with his mom. Farrah was thrilled to see him. It was a wonderful visit."
