Osbourne against Iommi over Black Sabbath ownership

Saturday, May 30 2009

by Kaustav Das Modak

Ozzy Osbourne, the lead singer of the band, Black Sabbath, began a lawsuit against guitarist Tony Iommi on Tuesday over rights of ownership of the band's name. Iommi had previously claimed to be the only person who owned Black Sabbath. According to Ozzy Osbourne's representatives, the case was filed in New York federal court.

Apart from the ownership issue, the lawsuit also demands Osbourne's share of the money earned by Iommi when he toured in 1990s under the name of Black Sabbath. However, yesterday, Osbourne said that he had tried to settle this dispute for three years without giving it a public attention and added that he was sorry to move to the court with this matter.
