‘Hannah Montana’ star Miley Cyrus’ recent album debuted at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Charts. The album is a soundtrack of ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’ which will be released on April 10, 2009.
Jim Weatherson, Walt Disney Records' senior vice president and general manager, said "The movie promotion didn't start in earnest until essentially this past weekend. We felt that with the success that 'The Climb' was having at radio, we had an opportunity to sell records in front."
The first single of the album, ‘The Climb,’ has already sold over 580,000 digital downloads since March. It also gave Cyrus her highest position on the U.S. Hot 100 as it went up to number 6. Amidst the success of the single, it still didn’t help the album to sell more to top the charts. All previous albums of Cyrus bowed at the top of Billboard 200.
