The performances of the top 5 contestants the previous night were all in accordance to the Rat Pack theme. After over 47 million votes were cast, another American Idol hopeful was eliminated.
It was Matt Giraud, the 23-year-old dueling piano player from Michigan, who got the lowest number of votes. Giraud made Idol history in the past weeks being the first contestant of the show to be saved by the judges from elimination given the new judges' veto.
Surprisingly, Adam Lambert, who is considered one of the front-runners of the competition, was included in the bottom group. It was the singer's first time to land in that position. Danny Gokey and Allison Iraheta, on the other hand, had the most number of votes. Though Giraud was booted, he will still be joining the summer tour of the other contestants.
