No one was eliminated during the results show of American Idol. Though America's votes were already cast, the judges used their veto to save a contestant from elimination. This would be the first and the last time the judges will use such rule this season.
After Ryan Seacrest announced that Giraud got the lowest number of votes, the Idol hopeful sang Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman by Bryan Adams. When the judges finished their deliberation, Simon Cowell made the shocking announcement. He said, "I don't see that you have really any chance of winning." Then he gave Matt the good news and reminded the contestants that two will be heading home next week.
Joining Giraud in the bottom group are Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai. The guest performers of the results show were Miley Cyrus and season 3 contestant Jennifer Hudson. The former sang The Climb, the main single from the soundtrack of Hannah Montana: The Movie, while the latter performed her second single If This Isn't Love off her eponymous album.
