The Russian professional tennis player Maria Sharapova ranked world No. 8 obtained her fifth grand slam title after Wimbledon 2004, US Open 2006, Australian Open 2008 and her first Roland Garros title two years ago.

Sharapova beats Halep in three sets: 6-4, 6-7, 6-4. It was the longest women's final in Paris since 1996: three hours and two minutes

Simona Halep bacame the first Romanian to reach a slam final since her manager, Virginia Ruzici, lost to Chris Evert here 34 years ago.
