Man detained for attacking singer Leona Lewis

Peter Kopwalczyk, a 29-year old man from south London has been detained on charges of assaulting singer Leona Lewis at a bookshop in London on Thursday. He has been booked under 1983 Mental Health Act which states that people who are proved to have psychiatric disorder can be forcefully detained and provided treatment.


According to an onlooker, Kopwalczyk had requested Lewis to autograph a book and when she looked up after signing it, he punched her. Lewis did not need to be admitted to hospital but was badly shaken by this incident.
