Madonna Still Wants to Adopt Mercy

Madonna Still Wants to Adopt Mercy

Monday, April 13 2009

by Joe Halls

Although Madonna’s petition to adopt another Malawian child was rejected by a judge due to a residency problem, the Queen of Pop emailed theNation, a Malawian newspaper, and stated, “I want to provide Mercy with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and health care possible.”

The singer’s lawyer already filed an appeal to the judge’s decision but there’s no appeal date yet has been scheduled.

Madonna’s representative recently gave a statement to CNN, “Though I have been advised that I cannot publicly discuss the pending appeal regarding my desire to adopt Mercy, I do want to say how much I appreciate the level of support that I have received from the people of Malawi and my friends around the world.”

Apparently, she still hopes to adopt the 3-year-old Chifundo "Mercy" James.
