Madonna Flies Out of Malawi After Failed Adoption Bid

Madonna Flies Out of Malawi After Failed Adoption Bid

Monday, April 6 2009

by Joe Halls

Airport officials said that using a private aircraft, Queen of Pop Madonna left Malawi after failing to adopt a second child named Chifundo James. When the singer’s convoy arrived at the airport, security forces prevented the reporters from getting a video, talking to Madonna, or even drawing near her.

Although Madonna’s intention to adopt another child was declined by the High Court, Alan Chinula, her lawyer, filed an appeal wherein the singer is not required to show up in court anymore.

Amidst the support of the Malawian government to Madonna’s adoption bid saying that she was a worthy mother, several rights groups were insisting that celebrities should follow the adoption laws.
