After the Malawian lower court refused to give Madonna the permission to adopt another child from their country, the singer's lawyer filed an appeal to the high court regarding the said decision.
Recently, a court official announced that the Queen of Pop's appeal was granted and it is scheduled on May 4. The appeal may last for two weeks where Madonna need not attend the hearing.
Joseph Chigona, Registrar of the High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal, said, "As with all court cases involving infants, this one will be in chambers, not in an open court." The appeal for the adoption petition of the singer will be headed by three judges from the Supreme Court of Appeal.
Prior to the approval of the appeal, Madonna's lawyer, Alan Chinula, reiterated, "We believe the lower court judge erred by basing her judgment on an archaic law of over 50 years ago."
