Larry King has filed for divorce from his seventh wife, Shawn Southwick. They have been married for 13 years. King was present in L.A. County Superior Court to cite "irreconcilable differences". This was the main reason for him to end up his marriage with Southwick.
Howard Rubenstein, King's spokesperson, said: "his major concern is the welfare of his children, and beyond that he's not going to comment about the divorce."
Larry King wants the separation date to be April 13, as well as he wants to get the custody of the two kids. The star does not want to offer any spousal support to Southwick. As we know, after a few minutes from King's filling, his wife's lawyer asked for primary physical custody as well as spousal and child support.
Despite the fact that everyone thought King and Southwick got into some tensions, it seems they are not, as they were seen together recently on Tuesday night, having dinner at a Beverly Hills steakhouse.
The history of 76-year-old King and 50-year-old Southwick started in 19997, when they tied the knot. They were happily married until now. The couple has two sons together: 11-year-old Chance and 9-year-old Cannon. Larry King is dealing with the eighth divorce from seven different women. He has an older son from a previous marriage.
The CNN talk host and Southwick had to face some infidelity rumors throughout their marriage, along the years. Among these, King was alleged to have an affair with his wife's younger sister, Shannon Engemann. The news was brought up by the National Enquirer, in 2009. In addition, there are insiders telling that Southwick always thought her husband had a five years' affair with her sister. Moreover, the woman talks about the way she had discovered King's Visa statement and the$160,000 car and "tons of gifts from Cartier" he had bought for his mistress, Shannon Engemann. The latter is totally denying it.
In 2008, it has been King's turn to find out about his wife's infidelity. It was said that Southwick was caught cheating her husband with their son's baseball coach. Along time, King and his wife, a former singer and TV host, had to face another scandal in public in 2007, out of a Beverly Hills Restaurant. That moment, the rep of King, Rubenstein, had to come out and explain it all: "He only has good feelings about her. He's deeply concerned about her well-being. He has enormous affection for her. He denies berating her."
In 2008, Southwick entered rehab for addiction to painkillers. Karl Engmann, her father, told PEOPLE that it was only related to painful migraines. "She finally decided to do something about it," he explained. "We're happy she's taking care of herself and everything will be fine."by FW Editor |
