Cory Monteith plays the role of an innocent, sweet character on Glee but he has a different message for his fans:
"I'm not Finn Hudson. I'm lucky on so many counts. I'm lucky to be alive," the young actor begins his statement. Monteith agreed to be interviewed by Parade magazine and he went into details about his past drug-related issue.
According to Cory, it all started after his parents' divorce. Monteith was 13 years old when he began skipping school, getting drunk and smoking pot. 6 years later, his mother and his friends organized an intervention because Cory's life was in danger.
"That's when I first went to rehab," the actor recalls.
The turning point of his life was when he "stole a significant amount of money from a family member. I knew I was going to get caught, but I was so desperate I didn't care. It was a cry for help. I was confronted and I said, 'Yeah, it was me.' It was the first honorable, truthful thing that had come out of my mouth in years."
