Disney To Buy Marvel Entertainment Inc

Disney To Buy Marvel Entertainment Inc

Tuesday, September 1 2009

As the biggest media deal of the year, Walt Disney Co is acquiring Marvel Entertainment Inc, the studio responsible for the hits Spider Man and Iron Man, for a whopping $4 billion.

This move is reportedly helping Disney reach out to more audiences especially the boys. With Hannah Montana, Cinderella and other fairy tale stories, Disney has definitely captured the hearts of the female spectators.

According to David Joyce at Miller Tabak and Co, "This helps give Disney more important exposure to the young male demographic that they have sort of lost some ground with in recent years." Though the deal is so expensive, it is expected, however, that Disney will reap billions from the upcoming sequels of Iron Man in 2010, Spider-Man 4 in 2011, etc.
