Madonna has been denied her request to adopt a second child from Malawi. On Friday, the court in Malawi ruled out the adoption stating that the pop star cannot adopt another child from the country. Controversies had spread when Madonna had adopted David from Malawi when the child was only 13 months old.
Yesterday, the government of Malawi had said that they will support Madonna in her bid to adopt the second child. However, the government was under pressure from social activist groups who have always been against Madonna's adoption. One group had mentioned that if Madonna was allowed to adopt 4-year-old Mercy James, then it would become a case of child trafficking.
Particia Kaliati, Information Minister of Malawi had openly supported Madonna in her adoption.
It is not known whether the pop diva will ask for a retrial.
