Theatres on Broadway have recorded a thriving sale by defying the menace of recession that
has made the world suffer dearly during this year. Though the number of ticket sales on
Broadway fell slightly from last year, yet Broadway managed to gather a sum of of $943.3
million. The previous record of Broadway was $938.5 million. Thus, the increase in revenue
was $6 million more than the record sales of 2006-07 season.
Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of Broadway League, said that the success is owed to
some great shows which have been the main source for attracting audiences. Since 1982-83,
Broadway hosted 43 new shows this year.
