Beyonce Knowles New Film Tops Box Office

Beyonce Knowles's latest film, Obsessed, peaked at number one in the box-office charts after its debut release grossing $28.5 million in ticket sales. In the movie, Knowles plays the wife of Idris Elba, who was flirted on and stalked by his co-employee, played by Ali Larter.

Sony Pictures was delighted on how Knowles brought the film to the top spot without any singing involved. The film's budget was only $20 million.

"This is the first film where she didn't perform musically. And what a way to start. I think she's showing there isn't much she can't do," said Rory Bruer, Sony's head of distribution.

Sitting right next to Obsessed is Zac Efron's 17 Again with $11.7 million, followed by Channing Tatum's Fighting, and Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx collaboration, The Soloist, in third and fourth places.
