Barack Obama On Anthony Weiner Scandal: “If it were me, I'd resign”

Tuesday, June 14 2011

Anthony Weiner is running out of allies and supporters and he is one step away from resignation. Maybe the last push out of the office was given by President Barack Obama this week.
During an interview with Ann Curry, Obama was asked about Anthony Weiner and his texting scandal. The President made his thoughts on it quite clear:
"If it were me, I'd resign," Barack Obama said. "What he did was highly inappropriate. I think he's embarrassed himself... he's embarrassed his wife and his family. When you get to the point where, because of various personal distractions, you can't serve as effectively as you need to - at the time when people are worrying about jobs and their mortgages and paying the bills - then you should probably step back."
