50 Cent Sues Traffix Inc.

Friday, March 12 2010

It is well known that 50 Cent has had his share of lawsuits against him. But this time he was the one who decided to sue. In 2007 the rapper's lawyer filled the paperwork for a lawsuit against the company Traffix Inc. of Pearl River, New York. The issue was the illegal use of 50 Cent's image in a Internet add.

Apparently, the artist wasn't even aware of this on-line commercial; a member of his staff noticed it on a MySpace page and alerted him. The actual add doesn't use his name but a cartoon that resembles him very much. It seems that the add encourages a person to try and shoot 50 Cent with the following slogan: "shoot the rapper and you will win $5000 or five ring tones guaranteed".

In the lawsuit the rapper's lawyer described the add as a "vile, tasteless and despicable" use of 50 Cent's image that "quite literally calls for violence against him". It seems they asked for a permanent injunction against the use of his image without permission by this company and punitive damages.
